Course description and topics:

Nurse aide training approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing focused on the nursing assistant role as it applies to foundations of resident/ patient care, communication, emergencies, infection prevention and control, holistic care, promotion of independence, resident rights, death and dying care, body systems and conditions, observation and reporting to the nurse, dementia and Alzheimers care, basic nursing and personal care skills, nutrition and hydration, vital signs (including manual BP), rehabilitation and procedures for care, skills demonstration and videos for state tested skills and onsite labs, hands-on clinical simulation preparation with typical LTCF equipment prior to the clinical experience. Included with the course is optional extra open lab practice.

Delivery of the content is available in the following options listed below: 

DO FIRST ONLINE, SECOND ON-SITE:

CLASS SECTIONS:

5 hour classes except clinical (5.5hrs)

*Starting in September all clinical simulation will be 6.5 hrs with less online (CLINICAL DAYS ONLY: Sections AH &A: 8:30am-2:30pm, BH: 4pm -10:30 pm, CH: 7am - 1:30pm).

6 days for FT Hybrid (part online),

10 days for Traditional classes

Fast Track: Hybrid:

AH: T,W,TH, 8:30-1:40pm

(school day schedule)

BH:(afternoon or evening)

T,W,TH, 5p-10:10pm or 2pm to 7:10 pm

CH: Full week M-Sat, 7:30am-12:40pm

(must complete most of online prior to day 1)

Traditional: (all in class & homework, NO ONLINE)

A: M-F, 8:30-1:40pm (school day schedule)

Class sizes, less than 8-10, (below the Board of Nursing requirement) Extra infection control precautions, including social distancing when possible, masks (hand sewn). Students will graduate the last day of clinical simulation and be able to apply to work immediately with a provisional license.(Check with your employer for more information).
